James Close (MEng, CEng MIChemE) is a Principal Risk Consultant with AWN Consulting’s Risk team, specialising in process safety and risk management. He holds a First Class Honours MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. James has over six years’ consulting experience delivering complex risk and safety projects across the oil & gas, specialty chemicals, and energy storage sectors, with international project experience in the United Kingdom, United States, Middle East, Europe, Australia, and South East Asia. His expertise includes reactive hazard assessment, pressure relief and emergency systems design, consequence and quantitative risk assessment (QRA), overpressure and thermal runaway modelling, modelling and analysis of lithium ion batteries and energy storage systems.
